Rug Care and Cleaning

Taking proper care of your rug will help protect your investment. To keep your rugs beautiful, we recommend the following:

Padding Rug padding reduces impact from foot traffic, a problem most noticeable on hard wood or tile floors. Padding also keeps the rug in place, preventing rug "slipping," which can cause falls and serious injury. When placing a rug over carpeting, we recommend rug padding specially designed for carpet to keep the rug in place.

Stain Protectant A stain protectant will help protect your rug against permanent stains from accidental spills and from dirt buildup from everyday traffic. When purchasing a stain protectant, be sure to look for one designed for the material in your rug — our rugs are primarily either polypropylene or olefin.

Regular Cleaning Vacuum your rugs as often as necessary to prevent surface dirt from becoming embedded. Clean spills as quickly as possible, by blotting with a damp cloth and mild soap such as Woolite®. We do not recommend commercial carpet cleaning machines or steam cleaners; if your rug must be washed we encourage you to take it to a professional rug cleaner.
